37-letni zmagovalec treh smukov svetovnega pokala si je pred prvimi tekmami olimpijske zime v hitrih disciplinah zlomil golenico in gleženj. Francoska reprezentanca je tako doživela še drugi udarec v ekipi za hitre discipline, potem ko je zaradi strgane križne vezi predčasno sezono končal tudi Brice Roger.
Theaux, ki si je ob padcu poškodoval tudi komolec in bil že operiran, je v 16-letni karieri v svetovnem pokalu 13-krat stal na odru za zmagovalce. Leta 2015 je na svetovnem prvenstvu v Beaver Creeku prejel bronasto kolajno v superveleslalomu.
